Value driver: platinum, palladium and rhodium content. Converters are priced per unit by type, size and condition – often identified by serial number – not by weight.

 

How Catalytic Converter Pricing Works

Unlike other scrap, catalytic converters are priced per unit, not per kilo, because their value comes from tiny amounts of platinum, palladium and rhodium in the ceramic honeycomb inside.

Original-equipment petrol converters usually carry the most precious metal and pay the most, while aftermarket units usually carry less. Diesel converters and DPFs have a different metal mix.

We identify converters by type, size, condition and serial number where present, and quote per unit against current precious-metal markets. Keeping the converter whole, not cut open, helps us assess it accurately.
