How Brass Scrap Pricing Works
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so its scrap value is driven by the copper it contains and tracks the copper market daily. Red brass carries more copper than yellow brass and pays a higher rate.
Clean, sorted brass earns more than “dirty” or “hard” brass that has steel, iron or plated fittings attached, because those have to be separated. We weigh and grade your brass on collection and quote against current rates.
Removing steel screws, fittings and other metals beforehand lifts the grade.
